Summary

In IMR-32 human neuroblastoma cells, Selank ALONE produced NO changes in the mRNA levels of 84 GABAergic-neurotransmission genes studied. GABA alone changed 14 genes and olanzapine alone changed 25. Selank co-incubation SUPPRESSED GABA's expression changes and AMPLIFIED olanzapine's expression changes — consistent with an allosteric-modulator hypothesis rather than a direct transcriptional effect.

Limitations

Single cell line (IMR-32 neuroblastoma); qPCR panel of 84 genes only (69 analysed after Cq threshold); combination-arm design; no functional/behavioural endpoint; no dose-response.
