Summary
Medvedeva et al. 2017 (Mol Genet Genomics) transcriptome study reporting that in rat focal cerebral-ischemia, Semax modulates immune-response genes (antigen presentation, interferon signalling, immunoglobulin-heavy-chain expression, cytokine and stress-response genes), while the PGP fragment attenuates immune activity and suppresses neurotransmission — supporting a Semax neuroprotection-via-neuroimmune-crosstalk hypothesis.
Limitations
Rat model only; transcriptome-only readout with no protein or functional-recovery endpoint; no per-arm sample sizes in abstract; multiple-testing correction not described; biochip platform-specific.
