C-terminal growth hormone fragment lipid signalling

C-terminal fragments of growth hormone have been investigated for effects on lipolysis, antilipogenesis and fat oxidation without reproducing the full growth-promoting activity of intact growth hormone.

Biological pathway

C-terminal growth hormone fragment exposure → incompletely defined adipose and adrenergic signalling → altered lipolysis, fat oxidation and lipid storage in experimental models.

Evidence summary

Most supportive evidence is preclinical and relates to AOD-class fragments in rodents or human adipose tissue experiments.

Limitations

The receptor target is not fully defined, and evidence for clinically meaningful fat loss in humans is inadequate. Closely related fragments should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
