Neuroimmune Repair

Innate repair receptor signalling

The innate repair receptor is proposed to mediate tissue-protective and anti-inflammatory effects without erythropoiesis.

Biological pathway

ARA-290 or cibinetide is designed from an erythropoietin surface helix and signals through a tissue-protective receptor complex.

Evidence summary

Small phase 2 studies in sarcoidosis and type 2 diabetes reported neuropathy-related signals and corneal nerve changes.

Limitations

Trials were small and exploratory, and confirmatory phase 3 evidence is lacking.
